Activadades

The Sydney Energy Cooperative is currently running the following projects:

Free compact fluorescent lighting (CFL) installations
The Sydney Energy Cooperative has partnered with the Carbon Reduction Institute to provide free installations of CFLs into homes and businesses in NSW and the ACT. Please support the Cooperative by referring friends and people in your neighbourhood to our service. Income from this program pays the installers, with all profits invested in the Cooperative. Free energy audits for low-income households
A limited number of free energy audits are available to low-income households. The aim of this project is to save money for people who need it, to help the environment by saving energy and to train members to conduct energy audits. This project is currently in the construction phase. Please contact us directly if you would like an audit or can refer an eligible household. We would also like to hear from you if you can help by conducting audits and train auditors or if you would like to learn.

Discount Photovoltaic Installations
The Cooperative has a full-time accredited photovoltaic system installer (accreditation number P1680) and is offering a limited number of discounted photovoltaic installations to residences and community centres. The locations will be selected based on appropriateness of photovoltaics and other merits. In particular, the Cooperative aims to install photovoltaics into homes that demonstrate extensive use of energy efficiency, sustainability in other areas of everyday life, involvement in the community and difficulty in paying full price. 1kW grid connected photovoltaic systems are available for between $3,000 and $5,000 depending on the extent to which the household satisfies the eligibility criteria. The Cooperative can also install photovoltaic systems in community centres. As with all of our projects, a key aim is to provide training to interested members. Please contact us if you would like to learn to install solar panels or if you would like to apply for a discounted solar system.

Community Training Program
One of the key aims of the Cooperative is to empower members of the broader community to carry out practical energy-related activities to help the environment. For this reason, the Cooperative is offering training opportunities for interested members in the area of photovoltaic installations and energy audits. Members can receive training in energy auditing through the free energy audit project described above. In addition to photovoltaic installations carried out inhouse, we have partnered with the following solar installers who have agreed to provide training to Cooperative members during the course of their work:

Solar Horizon, Marrickville
The Carbon Reduction Institute, St Leonards
